The Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, Floodplain Management Program is recruiting to fill the position of Senior Planner in Augusta. 
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: The Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry is seeking an experienced project manager to implement Maine’s Risk Map Business Plan and to work as part of a small team to carry out the objectives of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).  The position is part of the Maine Floodplain Management Program which works with the FEMA regional office and Maine communities to oversee and coordinate NFIP activities at the state level.  The Program has four major areas of responsibility: 1) Facilitating, implementing and reporting for the update of Maine’s flood maps; 2) Communicating the map update process to local/county/state officials; 3) Provide floodplain management technical assistance and outreach for compliance with the NFIP; 4) maintaining strong working relationships with our program/project partners. 
Statewide travel is required.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and possess a good working knowledge of floodplain management regulations, flood mapping, and flood insurance.  Familiarity with the objectives, goals, and policies of the NFIP and the state program are desired.  Excellent organizational, written and oral communication, problem solving, consensus building and project management experience are essential.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  A bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Planning or a related field and four (4) years of related work experience.  Equivalent related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.  Preference will be given to those applicants with supervision experience and certification as a nationally-certified floodplain manager.
