Sierra Club’s “Beyond Natural Gas” team is hiring a senior campaign representative to help prevent the export of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Numerous LNG export proposals are awaiting authorization and approval from Department of Energy and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, but this expansion is one of the most pressing environmental and energy policy decisions facing the nation. We intend to hire an individual who, utilizing our local grassroots power, media team, federal lobbying team, attorneys, and online organizers, can lead a successful campaign to prevent the export of liquefied natural gas. S/he will oversee the development, coordination, and execution of this work hand in hand with senior Sierra Club staff.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience working on a national or state level campaign, preferably in a leadership position, with experience in strategy development, field/community organizing, Congressional and administrative lobbying, media relations, fundraising, volunteer management, budget planning and management, and building relationships with senior level politicians, community and business leaders. More than a knowledge of natural gas issues, an understanding of export economics is very valuable to us.
Location: We prefer Washington, DC; San Francisco, CA; or Austin, TX; but will consider well qualified candidates in other regions of the country.
