New Pond Farm Education Center is seeking a Program Director

New Pond Farm is a non-profit environmental education center with an exceptional farm component that has been designated as one of the State's Dairy Farms of Distinction. We are located in West Redding, Ct on 102 acres with rolling pastures, woodlands and wetlands. The organization's mission is to Connect people with the land that enriches and sustains us all. Our five primary areas of programming are environmental studies; farming and gardening (includes beekeeping); Native American lifeways; astronomy; and the arts (including Shakespeare programs, biannual art shows and photography shows, as well as music).

We are a vibrant, fiscally sound organization. We pride ourselves in being small and personal, sharing unique and excellent programming with our 12,000 annual students and visitors. We are a membership organization with 800 member families.

Working with our part time educators, the Program Director will manage and lead school programs as well as programs for our members and the general public, in addition he or she will be responsible for our residential summer camp for inner city and area youngsters. She or he will be responsible for the development and execution of all educational offerings at the Center. The Program Director will be responsible for working within the confines of an approved budget; will be asked to write articles for a seasonal newsletter; write press releases; write grants to support special programs; work on our website and Facebook pages.

Strong administrative skills
Personable with strong social skills, communicating and working well with colleagues, members and the public.
Highly motivated and energetic, with a passion for education.
Ability to think creatively and strategically.
Ability to understand financial aspects of planning annual program budget and tracking program accounts
Ability to cultivate and work with volunteers
Ability to handle an ambitious workload, with attention to setting priorities and meeting deadlines
Five years or more of experience working in the environmental educational field and solid experience working on development, marketing and communications.

Bachelor's Degree required; Graduate degree desirable

Compensation:
New Pond Farm Education Center offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience; medical insurance; participation in a Simple IRA plan after one year of employment.
This is a full time position with weekend and evening hours as required.
