Museum Education-Early American History Intern

HCSS seeks a paid student intern between May and August 2014 for 15 hours per week. Intern will be responsible for guiding tours at the Society’s Wyman Tavern during its regular open hours, which are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 11am to 4pm. S/he will also support and assist the Director of Education with other educational activities during the spring and summer as needed. This may include overseeing family and children’s activities, light housekeeping, research and development of new programs, and assisting at the museum’s Tavern Festival on Saturday, June

Skills Desired: Enthusiasm for engaging with both adult and child visitors; strong written and verbal communication skills; punctuality; research and organizational skills; creativity; attention to detail; good customer service skills.

Intern will be expected to commit to a regular work schedule, be punctual and engaging, answer visitor questions, and attend training sessions and museum meetings as needed.
