Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist

About the Position . . .

We are currently seeking a full-time Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist for our Day Treatment (DTI) program in San Francisco, CA. This position continuously maintains the assigned group's therapeutic milieu during day treatment intensive hours by being present and available to meet the mental health needs of the clients to ensure continuous day treatment intensive services.

Essential Functions:

  • Helps develop and carry out skill building curriculum as part of the consistent delivery of day treatment intensive services
  • Ensures consistent and timely completion of high quality daily mental health progress notes and attendance tracking for each assigned client
  • Coordinates with multidisciplinary milieu staff to maintain and consistently carry out a weekly Day Treatment Intensive schedule
  • Monitors and coaches implementation of individualized behavioral support plans by maintaining awareness of all plans and giving continuous feedback to classroom staff to ensure effective and consistent implementation of plans
  • Creates, maintains and regularly reviews written Behavior Support Intervention Plans
  • Coordinates crisis intervention for classroom by implementing/guiding de-escalation techniques to ensure the safest and quickest de-escalation of crisis behavior
  • Assists other classroom staff with implementation of daily activities to ensure teamwork and consistency among staff
  • Attends quarterly Care Team meetings and provides direct feedback and reports on client progress in DTI setting.
  • Provides safe, effective, efficient, culturally competent and consumer centered implementation of direct care in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of care
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Requirements :

  • Must meet State Requirements as a Mental Heath Rehabilitation Specialist (MA & 2 years full-time relevant mental health work experience, BA & 4 years full-time relevant mental health work experience, AA & 6 years full-time relevant mental health work experience).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective therapeutic interventions with volatile and potentially assaultive children and youth, utilizing "Handle with Care" principles and techniques
  • Must possess ability to lift children weighing 50lbs to 100 lbs
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong mentoring skills
  • Must know Physical Assault Response standards
  • Familiarity with group and individual behavior management techniques
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to develop, cultivate an understanding of and adapt to the diverse backgrounds of our clients
  • Ability and willingness to utilize software necessary to provide sound documentation of services provided
