Marketing Associate

Working under the direction of the Senior Marketing Manager, the Marketing Associate is responsible for supporting and coordinating successful marketing and promotional campaigns for AMC lodging destinations, educational programs, merchandising and publishing programs. The Marketing Associate is responsible for managing the production and on-time delivery of print collateral, advertising, and web marketing materials. This includes designing campaign graphics and layout, drafting marketing copy, coordinating direct mail and email campaigns, producing ads, updating website as needed, and writing press releases. This full-time position is based at AMC’s Boston headquarters.


  • Support year-round print and web advertising campaigns for AMC programs, including scheduling ad placements, copywriting, design, internal review, proofing, budgeting, and return on investment tracking
  • Coordinate marketing collateral development (print and electronic), including limited graphic design, vendor selection, copywriting, hiring of freelance designers, printing, proofing, delivery, inventory control, distribution, cost analyses, and return on investment for AMC seasonal campaigns and programs
  • Develop promotional materials, plan speaker events, and manage media outreach in support of AMC’s books program
  • Collaborate with merchandising manager in planning and executing promotional programs, and manage AMC’s e-commerce site, in support of retail merchandising goals
  • Serve as marketing liaison with Volunteer Managed Facilities and AMC book and journal distributors
  • Maintain individual program website pages on through use of internal content management system and contribute to social media efforts
  • Assist with the invoice management and tracking of marketing communications budget
  • Conduct market research in support of marketing/branding efforts as needed
  • Maintain AMC photo files and assist with organized photo shoots
  • Travel to AMC business offices and facilities in New Hampshire and Maine, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Employment Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years of marketing communications, graphic design, or related experience
  • Graphic design experience with InDesign and Photoshop
  • Proficiency with content management systems for website, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in writing compelling promotional copy for web and print advertising
  • Strong organizational, communication, negotiation skills and confidence working with authors, colleagues, and vendors
  • Experience creating and analyzing budgets, schedules, and tracking reports
  • Strong familiarity with social media
  • Ability to travel to regional meetings and events, as needed
  • Experience in hospitality marketing desirable
  • Interest in hiking, paddling, skiing, or other outdoor recreation desirable
  • Passion for the recreation, conservation, and education mission of the Appalachian Mountain Club
  • Physical abilities required:
    • Work is primarily performed in a standard office setting, requiring abilities to climb stairs, walk, stand and sit and operate office equipment.
    • Occasional work at facilities and recreational settings, accompanying photo shoots and related, may require ability to hike in mountainous terrain, or operate in similar physical settings
