Lead Teacher

Life Pieces To Masterpieces is currently seeking an energetic, creative, professional with a background working with elementary and middle school participants. The Lead Teacher is a part-time position that operates Monday through Friday, between the hours of 3:00pm and 7:00pm at Dr. Charles R. Drew Elementary School. Classroom size is between 10 and 15 youth. Key Responsibilities: • Provide guidance and instructional support to the classroom • Teach the Life Pieces To Masterpieces curriculum core elements • Design lesson plans that are engaging and educationally appropriate • Provide oversight to Senior Mentors and volunteers providing support to the classroom • Respond to inquiries from parents and guardians • Report on the progress of participants verbally and in written format • Maintain attendance records of participants • Assist participants in presentations to stakeholders • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: • Belief that all youth can live healthy, purposeful lives and that all children can learn • Enthusiasm for non-profit youth development work • Proven experience teaching elementary and middle school participants in schools or nonprofit organizations • Self starter with the ability to work independently and with a team • Effective communicator with various types of people and professionals • Bachelors degree preferred, however, consideration will be given to those with a history of solid performance with youth
