Job Summary: The critical role of the Monadnock Region Child Advocacy Center (MRCAC) intern is to educate clients, provide up-to-date accurate information, ensure access to rights and services and provide neutral support and advocacy to child victims of crime and their non-offending family members involved at the MRCAC. The Intake Coordinator/Family Advocate will be considered a member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) along with the Cheshire County Attorney’s Office, Division of Children, Youth and Family, Monadnock Center for Violence Prevention, law enforcement, mental health and medical specialists. The Intake Coordinator/Family Advocate will be primarily responsible for working with families to coordinate forensic interviews at the MRCAC as well as provide information on options in services to promote their children’s safety.
ï‚§ Assist with referrals received by coordinating intakes and subsequent interviews with child victims of crime and multidisciplinary team members.
ï‚§ Promote collaboration of MDT when scheduling forensic interviews
ï‚§ Assess and refer, as requested, family members to various community supportive services
ï‚§ Greeting and orientation of children to the MRCAC, including providing neutral support to the child during pre- and post- interview meetings.
ï‚§ Develop and maintain victims rights and community supports materials
ï‚§ Data tracking and administrative duties as assigned, including an intern time sheet
ï‚§ Observe forensic interviews
ï‚§ Participate in monthly staff meetings and MRCAC case review
ï‚§ Provide outreach education and representation at various events as assigned
ï‚§ Assist with planning and execution of fundraising efforts for the MRCAC
ï‚§ Adhere to all confidentiality and expectations required of MRCAC staff
ï‚§ Provide information to non-offending family members regarding dynamics of abuse and the coordinate multidisciplinary response.
ï‚§ Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned
ï‚§ Sensitivity to the issues surrounding and desire to work with topics of child abuse, sexual assault, family advocacy
ï‚§ Proven ability to work independently, manage time and prioritize tasks
ï‚§ Able to work as a team player, but also a self-starter
ï‚§ Reliable transportation
ï‚§ Effective communication skills
ï‚§ Successful completion of MRCAC training
ï‚§ One half hour per week supervision or as required by class/program
ï‚§ Other informal check-ins and supervision as required
