House Manager/Residential Aide - Jamaica Safe Haven

The House Manager/Residential Aide will contribute to solving homelessness by assisting chronic street homeless individual’s transition into a stabilizing indoors environment and prepare them for moving into permanent housing. They will maintain housing stability by ensuring client and staff safety, and by providing support to the clinical staff during daytime, evening, and overnight hours. The House Manager/Residential Aide will work closely with clients, members of the JSH and S2H teams, and YMCA staff.


  • Engage chronically street homeless individuals residing in JSH, around supportive counseling, ADL’s, presenting behaviors, and housing needs
  • Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution as needed
  • Maintain accurate and thorough reports and records on daily behaviors, incidents, activities, census, ADL’s, room condition, etc., of all residents at JSH
  • Communicate with team members through email, shift reports and other required reports, staff meetings, and weekly supervision
  • Assist with client move-ins, transport and escort to appointments
  • Complete intakes as needed
  • Assist in the turnover of vacant units
  • Distribute mail, medication, and Metro-cards
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


  • 2 to 3 years working with homeless or formerly homeless individuals including those who are mentally ill and /or have active or previous history of substance abuse; equivalent experience or education
  • Cultural diversity, Crisis Intervention, CPR and Fire Safety a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of residents, staff and management
  • High School education / GED equivalent or higher
  • Computer (MS OFFICE) literacy
  • Bilingual a plus
