The HOPWA Counselor is responsible for providing community based housing counseling, crisis intervention, case management and advocacy with a special focus on housing issues faced by People living with HIV/AIDS. The Housing Advocate will provide intake and assessment services and conduct follow-up as specified in the individual client service plan, and as needed by funder's requirements. This position will serve as an advocate and case manager for the client, linking the individual to essential resources to increase their safety, stability and empowerment. The responsibilities of the Housing Counselor will be conducted at Congreso's main office, in the community, within emergency shelters, and within client's home.
The HOPWA Counselor will serve as the key client advocate with Crisis, LIHEAP, Rent Rebate, DEFA, AACO and AACO Food and manage a caseload of clients enrolled in this service. The HOPWA Counselor will provide case management, options counseling, and advocacy for assigned clients.
Minimum Experience: 2 years work experience in with housing counseling, housing development, advocacy or related soeical serivce field.
At least 2 years of experience with public speaking and group facilitation.
Computer Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite a must.
High School Diploma a Must;
Associate Degree or higher in Human Services Field a Plus.
Oral and written proficiency in both English and Spanish required.
