The Green Mountain & Finger Lakes National Forests will soon be filling a GS-0462-6/7 Forestry Technician position. This is a permanent full-time position. The duty station will be located at the Manchester Ranger Station in Manchester Center, Vermont. Only one position will be filled. The
purpose of this Outreach Notice is to inform prospective applicants of this upcoming opportunity
and to determine interest in the position.
About the Position:
Primary duties include the administration of timber sale contracts and assistance with the preparation of timber sales. The incumbent will monitor and inspect timber sale operations; interpret and explain standard timber sale contract provisions; develop a schedule and other plans for inspecting timber sale areas for compliance with contract clauses and provisions; prepare written reports of all sale inspections and follow-up on deficiencies; and perform final inspections and recommend acceptance of contracts for closure.
Other duties include timber sale preparation, timber marking, timber stand improvement, reforestation activities and forest inventory data collection. The incumbent will be expected to certify as a Timber Sale Administrator and a Qualified Timber Cruiser.
The position will be stationed at the Manchester Ranger District, but will perform duties throughout the Green Mountain and Finger Lakes National Forests.
