Sierra Nevada Journeys (SNJ) is a Reno, NV based education nonprofit dedicated to partnering with schools to build higher-order thinking skills through outdoor science education. We accomplish this Mission by applying modern educational theory to outdoor education delivered through hands-on learning programs include in-school courses, residential outdoor science camps and teacher professional development. Through research and assessments, SNJ is demonstrating that outdoor science education is an effective catalyst for teaching critical thinking, helping schools hit Common Core achievement goals while introducing students to the wonders of the natural world.
