We are seeking a Farm Manager to play an important role in GRuB’s work within the local food movement.
This is a 10 month position with possibility of renewal. GRuB is striving to find the most appropriate staffing structure to support the next phase of its evolution. This could result in changes to the job description next November, and/or re-sorting of responsibilities.
Director of Programs
The Farm Manager is responsible for the overall agricultural operations of GRuB’s
Farm (1.5 acres in production) and for facilitating community involvement on the land. This job balances running a small production farm and being a welcoming teacher and host for various groups, in particular teens enrolled in GRuB’s
School and Summer Employment programs
. This position anchors the hands-on Farming Land portion of our curriculum. We’re
looking for a person who is deeply committed to sustainable agriculture
and food justice and is energized by building relationships with people of all ages.
This position requires intense organization, patience, enthusiasm, delegation, and good humor!
Key Responsibilities Farm Operations
• Create and implement novice-friendly production/farm plan, systems, and procedures
• Steward physical site, tools, chickens, and general supplies
• Supervise completion of physical farm work
•Coordinate farm-related marketing including: weekly CSA for 40 customers, weekly markets (on and off
site), summer Flower Bouquet CSA (with delivery), year-round production for
food bank Education & Community Engagement
•Educate, supervise, and mentor teens in GRuB School and Youth Employment programs
•Educate, supervise, and mentor
various other participants (volunteers, interns, work-study)
•Provide consultation for curriculum and program development
•Lead groups in field work and farm care Collaborative Organizational Stewardship
•Participate in staff team-building, planning, and budgeting activities
•Participate in various full-staff events and activities throughout year including community-based
• Significant farm and marketing expertise including management and
planning as well as direct application
• Responsible, professional, and mature
•Strong collaborative communication skills
•Strong teaching and facilitation

• Ability to work independently and as part of a group
