Land’s Sake Inc. is seeking a skilled, enthusiastic and dynamic farm manager to run our 24
acre diversified vegetable farm. The ideal candidate should be positive, engaging, adaptive,
hard-working, community-oriented, creative, and collaborative. Applicants should have 7
to 10 years of organic/sustainable diversified vegetable growing experience, with at least
three of those years spent managing a production farm of similar scale and/or complexity.
Our produce markets include a large CSA program, a busy five-months-a-year roadside
farmstand, and a donations program. We are known for our beautiful, high quality
vegetables and responsive customer service, and we are looking for a farmer that will
uphold those standards.
Land’s Sake is a small and supportive organization where there is a lot of room to make a
big impact as a farm manager. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to
play a critical role in fine-tuning existing farm systems, developing and implementing a
long-term soil fertility plan, potentially re-envisioning a new staffing structure and seeking
out prospective new markets. Successful candidates will embrace logistical complexity
with gusto and can manage production pressure during the height of the growing season.
Growers with experience managing multiple sites, planning a path to and accomplishing
change, leveraging volunteers to good use, and getting the most from farm staff will find this
an exciting opportunity.
Preferred start date for our new farm manager would be January 2, 2014. He/she will have
the support of the current farm manager formally for a two-month transition period and
informally for the duration of the farm season. We are seeking a minimum two year

Experience and skills required:
ï‚· Three to five years of vegetable farm management experience, preferably at an educational
farm of near or equal size.
ï‚· At least 7-10 years total experience working on vegetable production farms, with a range of
ï‚· Direct management experience at a busy farm with 5-15 employees, and comfort with
logistical complexity and resource scarcity.
ï‚· Demonstrated organizational and record keeping skills.
ï‚· Demonstrated farm planning experience and working knowledge of farm infrastructure.
ï‚· An outgoing, engaging, organized, customer service oriented style. Well-developed
problem-solving skills and positive attitude.
ï‚· Enthusiasm for working with town officials, community volunteers, and children.
ï‚· Disciplined work ethic and passion for ecological responsibility and the importance of
inclusive, welcoming farm-based education.
ï‚· Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items repeatedly and the dexterity and endurance to
perform hard physical labor over the full farm year.
ï‚· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
ï‚· Basic mechanic skills and ability to operate a wide range of farm machinery.
ï‚· Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
ï‚· Up-to-date certification for materials handling and application (can be provided by Land’s
ï‚· B.S. or M.S. in Agronomy, Plant Science, Horticulture or a similar field preferred.
ï‚· Develop and manage farm budget (in collaboration with Executive Director).
ï‚· Develop and implement annual crop plan, including greenhouse plan and field planting plan.
ï‚· Care and maintenance, (or coordination of care and maintenance) of all farm equipment and
infrastructure including tractors, trucks, tractor implements, etc.
ï‚· Meet or exceed the ecological goals of Land’s Sake’s farming operation.
ï‚· Hire and oversee Farm team and Farm Stand Manager.
ï‚· Uphold high standards for production and presentation of produce.
ï‚· Help to create and uphold a collaborative space that welcomes and encourages education.
ï‚· Create and sustain a culture of safety at all farm sites.
This is a full-time, exempt position offering salaried compensation commensurate with
Monthly contribution towards health insurance.
