LOCATION: Far North Suburb
POSITION TITLE: Executive Director
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Executive Director (ED) manage all fundraising endeavors of the foundation and the higher education institution. The ED will work closely with the Board of Directors to plan and implement fundraising efforts to support the institution’s needs. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining active communication with the educational institution to ensure fundraising efforts made by the Foundation are in line with the institution’s needs. This position will report to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
·Provide leadership for development and public relations efforts to ensure donor retention and increased donor recruitment in an effort to exceed fundraising objectives.
·Manage the operations including the development of appropriate fundraising strategies.
·Operate the Foundation according to the goals and objectives set by the Board of Directors and related committees.
·Develop fundraising plans that will include planned gifts, major gifts, alumni relations, fundraising campaigns, appeals, and events.
·Oversee the management and operations of Alumni Relations and Special Events.
·Oversee the production of marketing materials that effectively communicate the goals and efforts of the Foundation to the community, including a quarterly newsletter.
·Collaborate with Vice Presidents and Deans to identify institutional priorities and needs that may require targeted fundraising efforts.
·Develop donor prospects and maintain continued relations with donors and donor prospects, including donor recognition events and other innovative development programs.
·Collaborate with Resource Development to endure fundraising and grant-writing efforts are handled by the appropriate staff.
·Maintain communication within the institution which seeks input from faculty, staff and administrators
·Coordinate accountability of contributions, and when appropriate report the use of donor’s funds to the donor.
·Assume additional duties assigned by immediate supervisor.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EDUCATION/EXPERINCE:
·Undergraduate degree required; Master’s Degree and CFRE preferred.
·Experience working in higher education, associations, or foundations preferred.
·Minimum five to seven years of proven success in cultivating and obtaining major gifts up to seven-figure donations.
·Minimum five years of work experience in management and resource development
·Ability to present a positive image for the institution and be comfortable. approaching various donors.
·Experience working with Boards.
·Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
·Proven track record in successfully meeting fundraising goals.
·Ability to work around broad organizational goals.
·Ability to work both independently and with a team.
·Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
