The Maine International Center for Digital Learning (MICDL) seeks qualified candidates for position of Executive Director. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with strong vision regarding innovative teaching and learning practices, deep understanding of pedagogy driving technology, and proven capacity for leadership in an age of education reform.
In 2008, former Maine Governor and Senator Angus King and Bette Manchester founded MICDL to support the development of promising educator practices, digital student resources, and international programs. MICDL works to create and sustain networks of educators, communities, international organizations , and university/school partnerships to promote technology-driven tools to personalize learning, encourage collaboration, and prepare students for the future.
John Newlin continues to serves as Executive Director during the search for a new ED. The position is open due to John’s decision to reorient his career towards his master’s work in environment education and his passion for addressing the climate change issue. The board and staff at MICDL thank John for his many contributions at MICDL.
Qualification and Job Description:
All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:
Advanced degree with at least 10 years of senior management/educational administration experience; track record of effectively leading and regionally and/or nationally scaling an organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth
Unwavering commitment to quality programs
Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget
Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
