Full time teacher of English for classes between grades 7-10 (graduation class is grade 13) and a few hours of history/geography. This involves both ESL in the lower grades and grammar/language and literature in the upper grades. Two posts are available from 1st Sept 2014 for 2 years with possibility of renewal of contract.
The school is a rigorously academic, independent bi-lingual (Fr/Eng) secondary school in Dakar. Most of the students are Senegalese. Students graduate with the International Bacclaureate (IB) bilingual diploma and obtain places in universities overseas. Students do social service work in the community outside the school.
Free accommodation in small furnished apartments is provided within the school.
Ideal candidates will posess an excellent work ethic; strong communication and organizational skills; patience and a good sense of humour; strong classroom management skills; some experience teaching diverse students. Beginning teachers are welcome to apply.

Familiarity with the developing world would be an advantage but is not essential. We are looking for candidates able to commit to at least two years.
Some knowledge of French would be helpful for living in Dakar, but it is not an essential requirement.
