Treehouse is a well-loved, community-based agency, now in our 25th year of working in strategic partnership with Washington DSHS Children’s Administration to address the critical needs of children in foster care. We have a big goal for the future: to ensure that foster youth in King County graduate from high school at the same rate as their peers by 2017 with a plan for their future.

The Position:

Treehouse currently has an opening for a full-time (40 hours per week) Education Specialist in our Graduation Success department in King County.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized education planning and service coordination to keep youth in foster care on track to graduate.
  • Advise and coach youth in foster care in problem solving, academic mindset, self-advocacy, and persistence.
  • Provide proactive advocacy in enrollment, school continuity, appropriate services, and discipline.

Ideal qualities/experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in special education, general education, school counseling, or social services- related field
  • Two years professional experience providing educational support services to foster youth or youth from other vulnerable populations.
  • Demonstrated success providing support services to youth and caregivers from diverse and traditionally underserved populations, including students of color, low-income students, or students with disabilities.

Position Schedule:

This is a regular, full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt position, Monday through Friday during business hours, with occasional evening and weekend hours.

Salary and Benefits:

The hourly range for this position is $17.79 to $19.47, depending on experience.

Treehouse offers a generous benefits’ package. Medical, dental and vision benefits paid by employer are offered with this position, as well as long-term disability, life insurance, a matching 403b plan, paid holidays and Staff Appreciation days, and 20 days Paid Time Off accrued by the end of the first year. Dependent medical benefits are offered at employee cost.
