About Green Mountain Farm-to-School
Green Mountain Farm-to-School (GMFTS) is a nonprofit organization promoting the health and wellbeing of Vermont’s children, farms and communities by providing programs to connect schools and farms through food and education. In the 2013-2014 academic year, GMFTS aims to serve school communities in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont with school gardens, educational programming and fresh local farm foods, benefiting over 5,000 students. Position Description
The primary responsibilities of the Education Director will be to develop, manage, grow,
present, and evaluate GMFTS’ education programs and provide general operational and
administrative support. The Education Director reports to the Executive Director.
The Education Director will:
ï‚· Lead Education Program Development by:
o Develop, manage, grow, and evaluate GMFTS educational programs including
tools and trainings for program replication
o Provide direction, training, and project management for curriculum advancement
o Develop and implement evaluation tools; collect, analyze, and report data for
program evaluation
o Develop strategies for growth plan execution and help launch new GMFTS
programs
o Purchase, distribute, and maintain program supplies and equipment
o Design and distribute program outreach and publicity materials
o Collaborate with the Executive Director and staff team to manage community
partnerships including relationships with schools, school administration, nonprofit
partners, and other programmatic contacts
ï‚· Support staff by:
o Train and supervise staff, AmeriCorps members, and interns
o Supervise volunteer recruitment, selection, training, and teaching
ï‚· Support Organizational Development by:
o Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals and represent
the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations,
and the general public
o Work with the staff and the Board of Directors in preparing a budget and to
provide fiscal oversight and report program expenses
o Assist with the development of GMFTS’ strategic plans
o Assist with raising funds for educational programs by researching potential
funders, preparing fundraising materials, and supporting events
ï‚· Provide general support to organization, as necessary

Qualifications
ï‚· A Bachelors degree minimum, Master preferred
ï‚· 3 years of relevant experience
ï‚· Strong project management skills
ï‚· Experience teaching children in an experiential and hands-on setting
ï‚· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detailï‚· Strength in hiring, managing, developing individuals and teams
ï‚· Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing non-profit environment

Compensation: This is a full-time position with salary and benefits commensurate with
experience.
