The Manny Cantor Center of the Educational Alliance is a dynamic urban community center, serving the vibrant diversity of the Lower East Side. The Manny Cantor Center, set to open in December, 2013, is a transformation of the Educational Alliance’s flagship building on East Broadway. With light-filled early childhood classroom, a state-of-the-art fitness center, spacious art studios, and a glass-enclosed rooftop space for community events, the Manny Cantor Center welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds.
Our new Director of Operations will play a critical role in creating and maintaining the operations and infrastructure in which innovative programming succeeds. S/he is responsible for the business functions of the Ed Alliance Preschool, Art School, Senior Center, Building Rentals, Parenting Center, social justice programming, and all fee-for-service programming at the Manny Cantor Center. S/he will also play an important role in the creation of new programming and new revenue streams for the Center. S/he will function in a senior capacity, supporting the Executive Director in the day-to-day operations and coordinating with the support services divisions of The Educational Alliance.
He/She will supervise and conduct business functions at the Manny Cantor Center, to further operational and financial goals, objectives and member satisfaction; lead MCC program directors in budget development and monitoring, and be integrally involved with the Educational Alliance Finance Department in decisions impacting the Center; assume overall responsibility for the physical structure, through oversight of building engineer, maintenance, and security; and oversight of a building-wide calendar and schedule of room usage; oversee implementation of all The Educational Alliance policies and protocols at the Manny Cantor Center as they pertain to IT, HR, Compliance, Finance and Vendor Management; ensure that technology systems supporting membership and program registration are operating effectively.
Excellent organizational, managerial and administrative skills that include operations experience in a complex organization, fiscal planning and control, and leadership development. Experience working in a JCC or community center setting a plus. Strong team-building skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities and projects effectively. Bachelor’s degree required and at least 7-10 years relevant experience. Advanced degree preferred.
