Flocabulary is seeking a Curriculum Developer to plan and execute the creation of our educational content.
WHO YOU ARE
You are a strong writer who loves researching topics and solving problems. You have broad knowledge about K-12 education. You could easily create a lesson that teaches subtraction to a 2nd grader and then one that teaches astronomy to an 8th grader. You are an inspiring blend of organized and creative. You don’t mind juggling tasks simultaneously. Deadlines don’t scare you. You want to be part of a company that is committed to inspiring and teaching young people.
You will be in charge of researching, planning, writing and creating new educational content on[[http:Flocabulary.com|Flocabulary.com]]. This content will cover a wide range of topics and grade levels. You’ll work closely with our Editor and Creative Director to answer this fundamental question: What is the best way to teach a given topic? Specifically, that will entail:
Researching standards, curricula and pedagogy
Deciding what content is taught and how it is taught
Writing activities, quizzes, lesson plans and other teaching tools
Providing notes to guide the lyricists who write Flocabulary songs
Proposing site feature improvements
Communicating with educators about how to improve our product
In addition to the tasks above, you will be the person who works with our development team on new learning tools to ensure that our new tools achieve our educational goals.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
You have classroom teaching experience and understand the educational needs of students across a wide grade range
You are a strong writer
You can quickly create unique and feasible lesson plans on a variety of topics
You’re equally comfortable working on your own or collaboratively on projects
You were a great student and have a college degree
We love what we do and have fun doing it
We offer full medical/vision/dental after three months
We work in a clock tower, conveniently located in Downtown Brooklyn
