STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt

HandsOn Central Ohio is the region's premiere information, resource referral, and volunteer mobilization organization, serving Greater Columbus for nearly 30 years. HandsOn serves more than 500,000 people, across 29 Ohio Counties, each year, by providing community insights, access to critical needs, and volunteer support to provide access to safe and nutritious meals, reduce hunger, improve academic & social and emotional outcomes for young people, better public health, and strengthen Central Ohio's neighborhoods.

HandsOn is managing a new Emergency Food & Shelter Program, beginning January 2014. This program works collaboratively with the United Way of Central Ohio, and Local EFSP Board to supplement and expand regional efforts to provide emergency food and shelter to people in crisis, across Franklin and Fairfield Counties.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage meetings of Local EFSP Board
  • Serve as liaison to Local Recipient Organizations (LROs)
  • Provide regular updates to and manage communications with the National EFSP Board
  • Recruit, train and provide ongoing support to partner agencies receiving rent or mortgage assistance applications
  • Maintain EFSP records, manage program data, prepare reports, and comply with federal program guidelines, fund regulations, and National Board policies and procedures

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Maintain a working knowledge of federal guidelines and regulations governing these funds
  • Ensure program procedures, standards and guidelines are met
  • Conduct outreach to external partners/providers to educate them about the EFSP program and to ensure maximum access and utilization of the funds by eligible participants
  • Process program applications and payment requests and complete general ledger entries for program
  • Manage client assistance budgets and assist in the development of service plans
  • Ensure timely collection, collation and production of statistical information and reports
  • Provide ongoing education and information to the community about EFSP, including ensuring public notices are posted in accordance with federal guidelines
  • Research demographic and other statistical information regarding the emergency assistance needs and demands in the local community on a regular basis for dissemination to the EFSP Board
  • Act as an ambassador for the EFSP program to other agencies and stakeholders
  • Be an internal partner to finance & accounting
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A passion for strengthening community through information, service, and collective action
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Social Science Discipline, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • At least 2 years program management experience with emphasis on budget management and program qualification
  • Work with diverse populations
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Proven record of success with meeting planning and management
  • Strong project management and attention to detail

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Ohio Driver's License, Insurance, and access to motor vehicle
  • Bookkeeping and Accounting Experience a plus
