The Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Land and Water Quality is accepting applications to fill a 17-week seasonal position in Augusta which begins June 17th.

 

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:  The Conservation Aide will assist staff biologists with collecting data to determine the health and water quality status of Maine's streams, rivers, and wetlands.  Field teams sample aquatic life communities (macroinvertebrates & algae), collect water samples, and evaluate habitat condition.  The Conservation Aide also maintains equipment, manages field sheets, enters data into a database, checks data for quality assurance, delivers water samples to the lab, etc. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and have knowledge or experience in conservation work or a high school diploma or equivalent.  Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in biology/ecology/environmental science, computers, and databases.
