Community Manager, Thriving Earth Exchange (TEX)

The position provides an exceptional opportunity to help develop an innovative program, focused on the sustainability of our planet by supporting community-based science.

As Community Manager, you will responsible for consulting with the TEX team and the AGU marketing and engagement group to establish TEX participation goals, objectives, and strategies and to develop plans to meet those goals. You will keep up to date on the best voice, platforms and tools on-site and on social media. You will take the lead in developing content designed to create passion and grow the number of people engaged in community science, on and off the TEX website. Reporting directly to the Program Director, TEX, you will monitor and report on progress toward TEX participation goals while working closely with TEX team members, Director of Science, TEX Task Advisory Board Chair, and the AGU CEO among others.

The appointment is for one year, with a possible renewal for a second year, and includes a salary. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree and one to three years of relevant experience. The successful candidate will be also be aware of and train in project management practices to help assure smooth coordination of multiple project initiatives. Proficiency with web development tools, such as WordPress, and social media platforms, as well as a scientific background is a plus. Ability to collaborate well with others, including respect for others and their perspectives, sharing relevant data/information, sharing thoughts and engaging in active listening, and contributing skills and expertise so the team succeeds. Ability to learn and innovate, including maintaining flexibility and adaptability, conducting research to continually advance knowledge and generate insights, and experimenting and improving products and programs.
