Executive Summary: The Cornucopia Project plants the seeds for a lifetime of healthy
eating by teaching the joys of growing food in school and community-based gardens.
The Co-Director of School (CDS) programs has primary responsibility for managing
Cornucopia’s school-based garden education program, and shares responsibility for
managing the organization with the Co-Director of Community Programs.
The CDS teaches developmentally appropriate garden-based curriculum to first and second graders in eight ConVal District elementary schools. The program extends into 3rd to 5th grades in two of the schools, reaching more than 400 children in total. Cornucopia lessons are closely aligned to district-approved learning standards and tailored to enhance classroom teaching. During two seven-week spring and fall sessions, the CDS teaches part-time and supervises a full-time teacher. The Co-Director works closely with District amd school administrators, teachers and parents to sustain the school gardens and programs.
In addition, this position shares joint responsibility with the Communities Co-Director for managing the organization and securing funding from foundations and donors, and has primary responsibility for overseeing Cornucopia’s budget and finances. Both Co-Directors report directly to the Board and represent Cornucopia to stakeholders and the community-at-large. This full-time salaried position is based out of our office in Peterborough, NH.
