Chief Schools Officer - Wilmington, DE

OVERVIEW: As a member of executive level management team, the Chief Schools Officer (CSO) will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategy to operate and expand the CMO Services offered by Innovative Schools. The incumbent is responsible for the management of the schools in the CMO portfolio and for ensuring each school remains compliant to the DE Charter School Performance Framework. This CSO will focus on Leadership, Team Development, and Academic Support to further the adoption of deeper learning models in Delaware.

AREAS OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE:

Leadership and Team Development

• Oversee school principals, CMO Operations Team, and CMO Project Managers;

• Serve as a thought partner to direct reports as they lead their respective teams; coach and support direct reports to address their key roles and responsibilities;

• Build a strong, cohesive team culture between the various CMO teams and boards;

• Supervise principals and CMO Project Managers in the hiring and management of school and academic team staff in partnership with the Innovative Schools HR Services Team;

• Plan and implement professional development for school principals;

• Supervise principals in the creation and implementation of effective professional development opportunities for their staff;

Educational Leadership & Academic Support

• Collaboratively develop and implement long-term plans for curriculum, assessment, and school improvement;

• Ensure that the principals have a clear plan for improvement of instruction and school culture;

• Oversee employee relations across the schools, ensuring cohesion and collaboration among school staff;

• Manage long-term and annual school planning;

• Keep self and direct reports informed of current educational trends, practices, and proposed legislation impacting the schools;

• Monitor schools' fidelity of implementation against school design elements.

Relationship Management

ï‚· Uphold the organization's larger mission, to empower educators and communities to adopt modern school models proven to inspire passionate teaching and learning;

ï‚· Possess a deep knowledge of schools in the Portfolio of Model Schools;

ï‚· Work closely with the Delaware Charter Schools Network and other critical stakeholders;

ï‚· Build relationships with district partners to support the adoption of school models;

ï‚· Build relationships and communicate regularly with the Delaware Department of Education and the Charter to School Office ;

ï‚· Support the charter school boards and build their capacity to properly support the schools.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

ï‚· Demonstrated commitment to social justice, closing the achievement gap and creating globally competitive graduates

ï‚· Master of Education, Doctorate degree preferred

ï‚· Evidence of past success as an instructional leader at the building level and or district level

ï‚· Experience in charter school leadership at the building level or charter management experience at the organizational level

ï‚· Demonstrated ability to develop leadership, coaching experience

ï‚· Extensive instructional knowledge and experience

ï‚· Excellent project management skills

ï‚· Ability to work and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

ï‚· Experience and ability to work closely with various stakeholders within the community
