The heart of the business is our lean operational model that trains qualified edupreneurs to successfully run individual schools supported by our centralized management staff with supplemental curriculum, mentoring, and quality control. Opportunity We are seeking a Chief Operations Officer who will be responsible for expanding and managing Effect schools in India working closely with executive staff. The Chief Operations Officer will learn the full spectrum of Effect operations in San Francisco California, and then work at Effect’s new headquarters in New Delhi, India. This is a role that will require fearless entrepreneurial spirit and determination to succeed regardless of the hardships that you may encounter. This job position is heavy and there will be no job harder than this, as the extent of functions need to operate a successful chain of low-cost private schools is staggering, and the challenges of accessing and serving the bottom of the pyramid are not easy. When challenges are the greatest so are the rewards. The opportunity is to be the person who innovates and leads its team in developing education models that will radically change the future lives of millions of children. There is no pre-determined previous work experience for this position. Entrepreneur experience in India is highly favored. This person may have worked for a large company leading expansions into other emerging markets. This person may have led franchising efforts of a large company in an emerging market. The most important qualities that we are looking for are passion, drive, problem solving and a team player.

Responsibilities • Responsible for expanding Effect’s Lean Private School model in India. • Identify and prioritize Effect’s most pressing business challenges alongside senior executives. • Responsible for mastering all federal and state regulations to operate legally. • Responsible for market entry in India, including managing team and leveraging team support. • Create highly-structured, insightful processes, systems and recommendations with data-driven approach working with technology partner. • Work alongside development partners to ensure quality control and job completion. • Lead development pipeline of successful program: site research, land acquisition or leasing, building construction. • Lead research in locating exemplary site areas for school expansion in Northern India. • Develop marketing strategy to ensure enrollment goals. • Develop perimeters to successfully tracking and recording with feedback of student learning’s.

Experience • At least 5 years of full time work experience. • At least one work experience that required highly independent work in an exceedingly challenging environment. • Work experience in a startup or small company. • Work experience in emerging markets that are multifaceted, diverse and heavily regulated.

Nice To Have • Prior full time work experience in India • Prior experience in a startup or early employee who stayed with company till profitability or going public. • Work experience in operations leading development expansion into new states and countries. • High energy and enthusiasm level; willingness to do whatever necessary to get the job done. • Entrepreneurial attitude/spirit and adherence to systems and process. • Strong project management and organizational skills • Ability to have fun!
