The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Choice Program is seeking a Business Development Specialist that will report to the Choice Assistant Director and provide operation and business management of the Flying Fruit Fantasy (FFF) franchises that are critical to the program’s on-the-job training component. The Choice Program is an intensive community based program successfully impacting the lives of Maryland’s youth and families for 25 years.
The Choice Jobs Program prepares youth from Baltimore’s most challenged neighborhoods for the work world. The program utilizes a supported employment model that delivers community-based vocational services that include a job readiness curriculum, paid on-the-job training experience and supported job placement. Specific duties include: working closely with the Choice Assistant Director, Jobs Service Coordinator, Shriver Center staff and the volunteer Community Advisory Board to ensure the successful operation of the two businesses and the paid internship placements at local businesses; performing a liaison role to Choice staff and community partners; and other duties as assigned.
Note: Due to the nature of the work flow and level of responsibility, this individual maintains a flexible schedule which goes beyond a 40 hour work week.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree. Entrepreneurial/business management experience preferred.
Experience in Quickbooks, NOVA(point of sale), Peoplesoft data entry, excel, filemaker pro and inventory control desired. Position requires use of automobile & valid driver’s license.
