New Alternatives for Children, Inc. (NAC)is an award-winning health and social services agency in NYC with 30 years of experience serving children with special medical needs and their families.We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) Social Worker in the agency’s Prevention Program. This social worker will initially work at our main facility’s Midtown Manhattan location, but will transfer later on to our brand new Bronx satellite site.
1. Acts as the coordinator of services and treatments prescribed by the Prevention Services program. Provides counseling to children and families, using the best treatment modality suited to the situation, individual, or family. 2. Provides intensive services to children and families in order to implement the goals and tasks of the UCR service plan and to help parents towards resolving the problems, which they are encountering. 3. Conducts home visits on a regular basis. 4. Ensures adherence to agency policies and ACS regulatory requirements. 5. Carries a caseload of 11 families. 6. Makes adequate use of individual and group supervisions. 7. Completes reports and all written records (UCR’s), summaries and dictation in a timely manner consistent with ACS and NAC guidelines. 8. Has responsibility for 24-hour on-call on a rotating basis.
1. MSW from an accredited school of social work; LMSW preferred. 2. Proficiency in Spanish is required. 3. Knowledge of health-related factors in working with chronically ill children, as well as experience in the area of child development. 4. Prior experience in preventive services, child welfare, and/or health care preferred. 5. Work hours generally 9-5; but may require one evening or more for clients who need to be seen after 5 p.m.
