Assistant Director, IdahoSTARS Project

Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children (Idaho AEYC), invites interested applicants for the position of the Assistant Director, IdahoSTARS Project, to join our organization as we work to promote quality in early care and education. Under the direction of the Idaho AEYC, the Assistant Director is responsible for the continued project development, implementation, and oversight of the IdahoSTARS project. This position works in collaboration with the University of Idaho’s Center on Disabilities and Human Development.

You will have an opportunity to:
• Manage the day to day operations of the IdahoSTARS project
• Ensure that the project is working in compliance with the grant regulations
• Provide direction and oversight of the IdahoSTARS project to include:
a. Idaho Early Childhood Professional Registry System
b. Early Childhood Professional Incentive/Enhancement Systems
c. The Quality Rating and Improvement System
d. Child Care Health Consultant Program
e. Multicultural Community Liaison Program
f. Child Care Licensing and Idaho Child Care Program
• Work in collaboration with the project’s co-director to ensure that the Child Care Resource and Referral, Training, and Curriculum Development programs are functioning to meet the goals of the project
• Attend meetings and functions related to areas of expertise and the facilitation of contract requirements as assigned by the Executive Director
• Assist with developing operational plans and budgets
• Share input and feedback to the IdahoSTARS project co-directors
• Travel as necessary to ensure the project is meeting its strategic goals
• Assume all other duties as assigned to further the mission and vision of the Idaho AEC and its projects

Position Requirements:
• Three to five years professional project management experience
• Bachelor’s degree with preferred Early Childhood Education or related field
• Strong management skills
• Experience working with grant funded contracts including monitoring and compliance
• Experience and understanding of working for a non-profit organization
• Future oriented vision and ability to set goals, take action and achieve goals
• Strong leadership and problem solving skills
• Personal attitude, behavior and appearance reflect professionalism at all times
• Ability to establish strong collaborative relationships and work with others in a cooperative and effective manner
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be detail oriented while being able to use time effectively
• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
