Sheridan is seeking an experienced visual art teacher for upper elementary through eighth grade. The successful candidate will have a background in both art and education, a specific interest in working in upper elementary and middle school grades, strong instructional and classroom-management skills, experience in curriculum design and student assessment, and an interest in collaborating closely with colleagues and parents. Sheridan's art program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, based on the National Art Education Association's visual arts standards and emphasizes creative, hands-on, project-based learning. Collaboration across grades and subjects and solid organizational and time-management skills are essential. Additional responsibilities include regular communication with families, participation in department and staff meetings, and lunch, recess and dismissal duties several times a week.
