Long-term substitute, teaching full-time in a team-taught, self-contained classroom of 7-8th students in Marlboro, VT, from September 2013 to Holiday break in late December. While sharing all the general duties of managing a classroom with another full-time teacher, specific responsibilities will include science classes and mathematics, including Algebra One. For a candidate with woodworking experience, there is also the possibility of maintaining the design tech program, building rustic furniture.
Other parts of the program include the class’s presence at the Marlboro Fair; a mountain climbing trip to Mt. Chocorua, NH; the Cider Sale, a week-end fundraiser pressing cider; daily morning meetings; weekly class government meetings; and helping students maintain a portfolio which they present to parents at a student-led conference in November. In short, this is a teaching position that is much more than teaching classes, in a progressive school that enjoys wonderful support from the community.
Please send a letter of interest, resume, and three references to Francie Marbury, Marlboro School, PO Box D, Marlboro, VT 05344. These may also be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications close May 3, 2013.
