Human Research Committee(Also know as Institutional Review Board or IRB) Upcoming Meetings
Thursday, July 9, 2009 It is University policy to reasonably ensure that the rights and welfare of human participants are adequately protected in research conducted under its auspices. In addition, both federal and state laws require this protection. In order for the University to fulfill its responsibility, all human participants research conducted under University auspices must receive appropriate review and approval. The University has authorized the Human Research Committee (HRC) to review and approve human participants research. The HRC is a campus-wide committee made up of faculty, administrators, and at least one non-institutional member. Brief overview of the HRC Application ProcessWhen submitting a new application for Research with Human Subjects, please follow the following steps:
Policy ManualThe HRC has created a comprehensive policy manual describing the scope of the committee, the application process, categories of research requiring approval, and ongoing reporting, as well as specific forms for HRC use. Please familiarize yourself with this policy manual prior to submitting an application for HRC approval. Certain categories of research may be eligible for less intensive review procedures than review by the entire HRC (see Section 4 of the policy manual). QuestionsYou can find more information on the HRC on the Frequently Asked Questions page.Other questions should be addressed to current HRC departmental representatives or to the chair. | ||||
