Donor Testimonies

E Fischer Ellen Fisher, ES '98
In my work, conserving open space and protecting wetlands, I meet AUNE alumni, faculty and friends wherever I go. These people are engaged and creative, they are changing the world. For as long as I work I pledge to give 1% of my annual income to Antioch University New England; I view this as a responsibility and am proud to be able to contribute. Having been involved with nonprofit organizations, I know how extremely crucial it is for AUNE to be supported by its alumni so as to leverage other funds.
Laura Andrews Laura Andrews, Co-Director, Admissions
My decision to give to the annual fund is simple. I completely believe in our academic programs, and I have seen time and time again their ability to transform students. Our students and faculty are an incredible resource and are worth supporting. It's my hope that as many qualified students as possible can attend Antioch University New England. Donating to the Annual Fund, which supports the Jonathan Daniels Scholarship, is one way of walking that talk.
Tom Wessels Tom Wessels, Faculty, Department of Environmental Studies
The Environmental Studies Department is an amazing place. In the past ten years only one other major East Coast college or university has more Switzer Fellows than Antioch University New England-and their endowment is colossal compared to ours. I am committed to building AUNE's endowment and scholarship funds to support our students and faculty. I gave the seed money for the Ginsberg Wessels Scholarship Fund because I know what ever I give, has a much greater impact at AUNE than it would at a larger school. Philanthropy makes a tremendous difference here.

I just believe so strongly in education. Today, we see the erosion of people believing in science and using science to make decisions. I thought about all this, and realized I could have a real impact by leaving some funds to Antioch. It's a very painless way of strengthening the school's future. A lot of people don't have a will, which I think is a mistake. What a great time to make a gift.

David Caruso David A. Caruso, President
We at AUNE have the ability to join together through our contributions to the annual fund and create a legacy that will truly benefit humankind in ways far greater than what we can do as individuals. AUNE's values are fully actualized in community: locally, regionally, and throughout the world. It is this profound sense of community and public service that is at the heart and soul of all we do and what makes an AUNE education so unique and valuable to our society today.

When I chose organizations to include in my planned giving package, I was looking for those I trusted; that had the potential of positive global impact, a potential for a change in society worldwide.

Ken and Lisa Kerber, friends
We want to leave a positive and lasting impact after we are gone…so we chose Antioch [to receive our home, acreage, and contents] because we thought Antioch could essentially provide the most value to the most people. The idea of Antioch being able to use our house for staff, faculty, or student housing was appealing, because to some degree it would advance their mission, which is what we're interested in. Every human on earth should give something back. We tend to just take, take, take - everything that this environment can give us - and I really believe we need to give something back. It's never going to be adequate, but it's going to be something.
