Scholarships & GrantsIn addition to the scholarships awarded by Antioch University New England and listed below, there are some scholarships and grants available to graduate students through outside sources. President's Merit ScholarshipThe AUNE President's Merit Scholarships are awarded at the time of admission to students seeking a master's degree. There is no separate application process. Awards of up to $5000 per year are based on prior academic performance and work/life experience. Awards are made for one year and would be renewed for a second year if the recipient maintains satisfactory academic standing and remains enrolled full time. TEACH Grant ProgramThrough the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007, Congress created the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program that provides grants of up to $4,000 per year ($8000 graduate student maximum) to students who intend to teach in a specific high-need field in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. Antioch University New England has designated the following programs as TEACH Grant eligible: Science Teacher Certification, Experienced Educators, Elementary Teacher Certification, and Waldorf Teacher Education. Life Begins at 40 Scholarship for WomenAntioch University New England received a gift that makes it possible for two scholarships of $1250 each, one to a continuing student and one to a new student, to be awarded beginning in 2006-07. Recipients will be selected from the pool of applicants for Federal financial aid and the Jonathan Daniels Scholarship who meet the published deadline with a complete application (March 1st for continuing students and new Clinical Psychology students, and June 1st for new students with a fall start date). The recipients will be selected from the group with the highest financial need as defined by our application process. The continuing student recipient will be notified by May 1st, and the new student will be notified by August 1st of each award year. The scholarship will be awarded annually for one academic year. Jonathan Daniels ScholarshipBuilding on Antioch's history of commitment to social justice and diversity, Antioch University New England established the Jonathan Daniels Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to increase the diversity of the student body in its racial, ethnic, cultural, international, and socio-economic make-up, and to encourage service to underserved groups. Awards range from $500 to one-half of tuition for a given year. Awards are made annually and students are encouraged to reapply. Applications are available from the Office of Financial Aid. More Information Howard M. and Sondra D. Bender Scholarship for Dance/Movement TherapyThe Bender Fellowship Fund is used to award fellowships to outstanding students in the Dance/Movement Therapy Program who show both financial need and the promise of making a significant contribution to the field of dance/movement therapy. Bender fellowships are awarded annually, generally ranging between $300 and $1,000. Waldorf Teacher EducationThe Waldorf Teacher Education Program offers fellowships to students who show financial need and the promise of making significant contributions to Waldorf education. These fellowships are awarded annually and range between $300 and $2,000. Reader's DigestTwo top scholars, nominated by their departments and involved in educating others in their chosen field of study, will be awarded up to $1,500 each during the spring semester. Ideally, awardees will intend to work in an underserved area upon graduation. Norman Wilson ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship is awarded annually to one student with a high level of financial need who has self-identified as African, Asian, Hispanic, Native American, Pacific Islander or an international student of color. Norman Wilson served as the director of the Antioch-Putney Center from 1968 to 1972, and was committed to increasing the diversity of Antioch's student body. At this time $2250 is awarded to one student per year. Cap and Gown Book ScholarshipA committee of students who graduated in 2003 established the scholarship to assist students who are single parents and have financial need. Each subsequent graduating class has continued to contribute to the fund. Typically seven scholarships of $400 are awarded annually to be used toward the purchase of course books. Ginsberg/Wessels ScholarshipThe William R. Ginsberg and Thomas K. Wessels Endowed Scholarship was created in 2008 by the estate of William R. Ginsberg, and AUNE core faculty Tom Wessels. One scholarship of $2500 is awarded annually to a student who displays academic excellence and true leadership. | ||||
