Americorp Education Award Program

Offering Tuition Assistance for Community Service

AmeriCorps Education Award Program

The Education Award Program offers tuition assistance to students participating in eligible community service activities. The program is designed to engage students in service activities that:

  • Meet real-life community needs
  • Increase leadership skills and civic knowledge
  • Facilitate campus-community partnerships

Eligibility

Work study students and student volunteers are eligible to apply for the Education Award Program. Practicum or coursework hours resulting in academic credit, and hours paid from sources other than work study are not eligible.

Terms of Service and Vouchers

  • 450 hours - $1,250 voucher
  • 300 hours - $1,000 voucher

For example an accepted student who works 300 hours during the calendar year will receive a $1,000 voucher. Longer terms of service may be available as well. Vouchers can be used to pay education costs or repay eligible student loans.

Students Engaged in Redefining a Vision for Education

The awarding program, “Students Engaged in Redefining a Vision for Education” in Northern New England (SERVE NNE), is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service.

SERVE NNE is an AmeriCorps Education Award program administered by the Campus Compacts of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

Antioch University New England, as a Campus Compact member institution, is able to offer tuition assistance for students engaged in community service work.
