Saving DanielThis event, sponsored by AUNE’s Department of Education, features the film Including Samuel as well as stories of heart and courage from area educators who, by example, are leading this educational movement.  Including Samuel honestly portrays a family’s hopes and struggles as well as the experiences of four other individuals with disabilities and their families.

Why attend?

For too long we have had two separate educational systems, general education and special education, existing in schools beside one another. In order to serve all children it is essential that teachers uncover and challenge the practices that segregate by academic and social ability.

Who should attend?

Teachers, parents, administrators, social service providers, and anyone interested in how people with differing abilities are included in our lives and our culture.

What is the Holistic Special Education Program?

Students in this program study both elementary and special education, and receive dual certification. We prepare teachers to teach and lead in inclusive educational settings and make a difference in the lives of children and families.
