I have worked for a large wholesale food distribution company for 22 years in a variety of roles primarily focused on supply chain. As time has progressed in my association with this company I have engaged with hundreds of food manufacturers and retailers. Through these experiences I have seen that the ability to weave a sustainable approach to supply chain has moved well beyond "image" or "marketing" and has become an integral part of any successful company's business approach. Rather than focusing upon individual links in a chain, organizations and companies today must extend themselves beyond their own silos and migrate to an enhanced systems approach that will drive greater collaboration, efficiencies, and sustainability.
As an adjunct professor in the Green MBA program in AUNE's Management department, I develop and teach current Supply Chain applications, analytics, and processes that students may touch now or in the future with their organizations. Many of my work roles in procurement, trade relations, negotiating, and supply chain have focused on driving collaborative efforts to drive efficient practices. With these experiences, I am able to incorporate long standing practices or evolving techniques or activities that I see on a day-to-day basis and bring those to the classroom. I am also enriched by the broad spectrum of companies and organizations that my students have worked for, as each classmate brings a unique perspective into the course that provides many learning moments for myself and the cohort.
