Ronald L. LaBrusciano (MS)

Overview

Received an M.S. in early childhood education from Southern Connecticut State College and a B.A. in psychology from Marquette University. He completed his doctoral studies in education through the Integrated Day Program at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he was practicum field coordinator and an instructor for the Interdisciplinary Teacher Education Program. He was an elementary teacher for twelve years and an adjunct faculty member at Johnson State College, Goddard College, Vermont College, and the University of Vermont. His interests are in how the arts relate to teaching and learning, thematic curriculum, and multi-age grouping.

“Build a classroom community with kids who respect and care about each other and want to learn. Then add an engaging curriculum that helps children to develop skills in active, meaningful ways and you are well on your way to having a classroom that works. The arts should be an integral ingredient in all that we do as teachers. It's an important part of my teaching as well. I try to share what I've learned from children and colleagues with my students to help them to gain skills and confidence in their own way of helping children to grow.”
