Robert specializes in the use of technology to facilitate teaching and learning. With experience in corporate training, K-12, and higher education he strives to help faculty imagine innovative uses of technology to help students become actively engaged in their education.
In addition to working as an instructional designer he currently teaches online for the University of Massachusetts in the communications studies department. Course titles include; Media Literacy and Using Internet Communications. He previously worked as a trainer/analyst for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Originally trained as a television producer/director, Robert began working in the field of education as the production supervisor for TEAMS Distance Learning at the Los Angeles County Office of Education and later at the Massachusetts Corporation for Educational Telecommunications (MCET). Both projects pioneered the use of satellite technology to provide direct instruction to K–12 students under the federally funded Star Schools grant program.
Robert became interested in web–based, interactive learning while enrolled at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Upon graduation he formed the Superintendent's Academy at the University of Massachusetts Boston campus and continues to develop materials for the Center for Collaborative Leadership and for Harvard Business Publishing.
