Overview
As Chair of the Management Department, it is my honor to serve our students, faculty, staff and alumni. In this role I bring together my skills and experiences as an environmental educator, scientist, teacher, administrator, consultant, and systems thinker.
I view my role as one of a weaver. I strive to serve this department by weaving together people, programs, ideas, strategies, and community. Environmentalists strive for balance in systems and know that the stronger the threads that hold the connections together, the more resilient the system. As the Chair, my goal is build strong connections by caring for the people and programs of our department and university.
I am honored to serve as the chair. I use that word intentionally as I consider myself a servant leader. I am not doing this because my goal is to lead; I am doing this because my very core is to serve. I believe in the work of Robert Greenleaf “the servant leader is servant first. It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve. The conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead. The best test is do those served grow as persons: do they, while being served become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to serve...” My ultimate goal is to support our students, alumni, faculty and staff in serving people, organizations, communities and the planet.
As a core faculty member in the Department of Management I teach: Earth Systems in Organizations, Practicum, and Introduction to Sustainability.
As the Program Director of the Green MBA, I advise students, hire and mentor faculty, and recruit new students to our MBA in Sustainability (Green MBA). I represent Antioch at many regional and national sustainability and BSR (Business for Social Responsibility) events to share our work and recruit new students.
My undergraduate degree is in Resource Management and Environmental Education from University Wisconsin-Stevens Point. I received my first MEd from Arcadia College, in Philadelphia in Science Education. I received my second MEd in Administration and Supervision from the Management Department at Antioch University New England. Prior to working at AUNE, I had a career in science and environmental education and service learning. I developed curriculum and taught youth and adult learners. I supervised student teachers, chaired a science department, oversaw faculty professional development training, published curriculum guides and journal articles, and presented at multiple national conferences. In addition, I was the Service Learning Coordinator for Keene State College, Keene, NH.
As an alumna of Antioch University New England, I am honored to serve my alma mater as chair, faculty and program director.
