Dr. Murphy, Associate Professor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Director of the Antioch Couple & Family Therapy Institute, has earned the designation of a Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor from the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She holds a PhD from the University of Georgia and is especially interested in diversity and feminist practice in couple and family therapy. Dr. Murphy has been the Director of the Marriage & Family Therapy Program at Iowa State University and was co-principal investigator on a research grant investigating the characteristics of same sex couples in Iowa. She recently co-authored and article on the influence of religious practices and support for lesbian and gay human rights.
