Dr. Barnes received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Maine at Orono in 1989 and completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Neuropsychiatric Institute and Hospital at the University of California, Los Angeles. He joined West Central Services in Lebanon, New Hampshire in 1986 where he remained a staff psychologist and administrator until 2001. During those years Dr. Barnes was the Director of Elderly Services, the Director of the Counseling Center in Claremont, and the Director of Adult and Elderly Outpatient Services. In 2001 he became the Chief Operating Officer at Monadnock Family Services. He left this position in 2006, and the following year he became the Executive and Clinical Director of MAPS Counseling Services in Keene. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Dr. Barnes is a practicing psychotherapist working with adults and seniors. He is currently conducting research on the adaptation and re-integration of “Third-Culture Kids” to their passport countries.
