Waldorf MEd Elementary Education

Master of Education with Waldorf Elementary Specialization without New Hampshire Certification

Minimum number of required semesters: 5
Expected study sequence: Summer, Fall, Spring, Summer, Fall

The degree requirements are:

First Summer (Classes are held for three weeks in July in Wilton, NH)

• Anthroposophy: Projective Geometry
• Human Development and the Waldorf Curriculum
• Evolving Consciousness I
• Eurythmy I, Speech I, Modeling
• Singing

First Fall (Classes are Thursday and Friday with occasional weekends in Keene, NH)

• Waldorf Curriculum I: Grades 1-4
• Evolving Consciousness II
• Number, Rhyme, and Handcrafts
• Movement Education in the Waldorf Classroom
• Painting I (Geothean Color Study)
• Classroom Drawing
• Drama

First Spring (Internship in a Waldorf school Monday-Wednesday. Classes on Thursday and Friday with occasional weekends in Keene, NH)

• Waldorf Curriculum II: Grades 5-8
• Waldorf Methods in Math and Language Arts
• Internship and Professional Seminar (Waldorf School)
• Waldorf School Administration and Leadership
• Painting II
• Electives
• Waldorf Educational Research

Second Summer (Classes are held for three weeks in July in Wilton, NH)

• Foundations of Human Experience
• Arts to accompany Foundations of Human Experience
• Science Curriculum
• Speech II
• Bothmer Gymnastics/Games
• The Adolescent (Elective)
• Music Curriculum (Elective)
• Optional one-week institutes on specialized themes

Second Fall (A second internship in a Waldorf school Monday-Friday for 15 weeks. This internship site can be anywhere in the country.)

• Internship and Professional Seminar/Practicum (Waldorf School)
• Master’s Project

MEd courses in italics are in addition to the core Waldorf Certificate courses.

Total Master’s Concentration 40-credit minimum
