Experienced Waldorf Educators Program - Education Department: Antioch New England

Experienced Waldorf Educators MEd Program

Program Highlights

  • One-year MEd program
  • Low-residency - Two summer residencies at Pine Hill School in Wilton NH and independent work at your home school in the intervening Fall and Spring

This program is designed for Waldorf educators who...

  • have seven or more years of experience
  • want to take advanced work in specialized focus areas
  • need a deeper, more tailored approach to their advanced Waldorf education
  • might have completed unaccredited teacher training in the past and now want to earn a fully accredited university master's degree

Specialized focus areas:

  • Waldorf Social Arts with Kim John Payne
  • Special Education with Hanneke van Riel
  • Visual and Healing Arts with Karine Munk Finser
  • Adolescent Studies and High School Research with Douglas Gerwin
  • Curriculum Development with Arthur Auer
  • Organizational Dynamics with Torin Finser

All courses will be taught on an advanced level. For example, rather than taking an introduction to color or curriculum painting, students will do veil painting and consider therapeutic aspects of color exercises. Likewise, the Anthroposophy courses will work with advanced texts usually not covered in Waldorf teacher training programs. The overall aim is to move beyond the study of content to the active engagement possible through spiritual scientific research.

Program Plan

  • Summer I: Two weeks in Wilton NH - Research course and specialized focus area seminars
  • Fall Semester: Supervised independent study research
  • Spring Semester: Master's Project
  • Summer II: Three weeks in Wilton NH - Seminars in specialized focus areas, arts and Anthroposophy
