Experienced Educators Program at Kieve
AUNE will expand its offerings to its full Master's of Education degree program in Fall 2011, delivered entirely on site at Kieve's beautiful lakeside facility by AUNE faculty. A Kieve has long been a local resource for experiential education workshops for local teachers, and it delighted to host AUNE's Experienced Educators MEd program. The Experienced Educators MEd program is designed for teachers of any grade level or subject area, and can also include other non-traditional educators such as artists, environmental educators, vocational/technical educators, and community college instructors. "Antioch classes are just the thing for working teachers -- practical, hands-on, and cutting-edge. AUNE really walks its talk."
The Year Round Experienced Educators weekend program is a 6-semester MEd program. Each ExEd cohort is a group of 12-18 educators who gather at a local cluster location in New Hampshire, Maine, or Vermont. For fall 2011, we are planning a cluster at the Kieve Leadership School in Nobleboro, Maine. Classes meet once a month on Friday evening and all day Saturday, as well as a week-long intensive in Nobleboro during the summer. Concentrations available include:
Please see the accompanying course sequence charts, linked above, for fuller descriptions. These concentrations are also available for students in a Year-Round program in clusters other than Kieve's Nobleboro, Maine location. Additional Fall 2011 cluster locations are yet to be announced. "This partnership with AUNE is a great opportunity for teachers to build on their Kieve experience and learn more classroom strategies that foster classroom community and motivate students. It's an exciting next step in the programs that Kieve offers for educators."
PracticumThe ExEd program includes a 4-credit practicum spread over 2 semesters — fall and spring of the first year. Your advisor evaluates your practicum work each semester. The basis of the practicum is the actual work you do related to education. In consultation with your advisor, you use your classroom, school, or other learning environment to work towards integrating educational theory with your professional practice. Through reflective processes, talking with other teachers and advisors, reading, and discussion, you will use your practicum to see your work from new perspectives. The Practicum consists of:
Master's ProjectThe Master's Project is a central part of the Experienced Educators Program. The project is your opportunity to explore some aspect of the field of education in depth, use action research methods of investigation, make a plan for using your knowledge, and take steps to implement and advocate for your plan. Courses supporting the development and implementation of your Master's Project are integrated into the program course sequence.
