One common species is the White-tailed dragonfly: Plathemis Lydia. Dragonflies begin their lives as nymphs, usually in ponds. Dragonfly nymphs look very different from adult dragonflies. Adult dragonflies emerge from the nymph stage in early summer. They leave the pond to feed in woods and fields.
