Understanding fathers' experiences of raising an autistic son: A qualitative study

Andrea L. Long (2005)

The research literature on autism neglects to include fathers of children diagnosed with autism. In the following qualitative study, fathers who are the biological parents of autistic sons age 3-5 were interviewed. Each father lived with his son and his son's biological mother. The purpose of the study was to facilitate a better understanding of how fathers make meaning of having an autistic son and to share this information with parents and professionals.
