Harry Potter and the transitions group: A developmental curriculum

This dissertation describes a curriculum for a developmental skills group for all incoming sixth graders based on the popular Harry Potter books by J. K. Rowling. The history of bibliotherapy is outlined and discussed. Group therapy, development of middle school children and the history of treatment manualization are all addressed. The methods of the creation of the curriculum are outlined. The manual is presented within the text along with the worksheets and reading excerpts needed for each week of the group. Finally, the discussion section focuses on the current and future implications of the project.
