Loman's International presentations in Dance/Movement Therapy

Munich PanelIt has been an extremely busy summer for Susan Loman, Director of the MA Program in Dance/Movement and Counseling. She gave KMP trainings in Seoul, South Korea, Bologna, Italy and Munich, Germany as well as giving a keynote address in Freising, Germany. DMT Alums, Hee-Kyung Nam and Debora Sbaiz translated for Loman in Korea and Italy respectively.

Susan LomanThis was Loman’s first trip to Asia. She was invited by the Korean Dance/Movement Therapy Association to present on her specialty, The Kestenberg Movement Profile assessment tool. What made the experience so fulfilling was to be able to work closely with Hee-Kyung. “I was really able to get the ideas across so well since Hee-Kyung had already taken my course at Antioch. Having someone I knew well as my translator made the experience extremely comfortable. The 30 participants were so expressive, creative and motivated,” Loman reported. Loman was interviewed by an on-line dance magazine and was able to attend a traditional Korean dance performance. The workshop was five days long and entitled, An Introduction to the Kestenberg Movement Profile. Loman and her husband Peter were treated to many delicious Korean meals, trips to the countryside and shopping in traditional markets. Loman traveled as well to Bologna and Munich later this summer for more teaching and a keynote speech, The KMP and Pregnancy: Developing Early Empathy Through Notating Fetal Movement at the Movement Analysis Conference, “Moving from Within”. The conference generated a book in which Loman contributed two chapters. Over the last 14 years Loman has also taught in Argentina, the Netherlands, England and Switzerland.
